Hello and Welcome. Thank you for looking at my profile. My name is Elisabetta and I am a qualified integrative counsellor, trained at the University of Edinburgh, and a Master Degree in Clinical Psychology in Italy. I am based in Edinburgh and I can offer individual sessions in person and online short and long term, as well as in English and Italian. Starting therapy can seem daunting and scary at first. But it's the first step you have taken to embark on this journey. Feeling isolated and not able to make sense of the world around you? Questioning all that you have grown up with? Racing thoughts constantly clouding your mind? Feeling detached, anxious or upset? Not sure how to process what you are experiencing? All this seems pretty overwhelming but more common than you think. Through acceptance and kindness why not allow yourself to be able to make sense of all this through therapy. Let each session speak for itself and discover different parts of yourself.

I don’t know if you have ever had the opportunity to share your story where someone really listens. I mean really listens, wanting to know you, your story, your ups and downs. Where nothing is off limits. Space to speak what maybe you’ve never spoken before. Sitting in the counsellee seat is not always easy and opening up to someone you do not know can be daunting. I know that taking that first step requires courage and I would love to walk with you on your journey.

Many of my clients are thoughtful, self-aware people who understand where their difficulties come from, yet still feel stuck. You might know you are good enough, yet not feel it. You may struggle with low mood, anxiety, low self-esteem or a harsh inner critic that affects relationships, work and daily life. I have a special interest in maternal mental health, supporting women with postpartum anxiety, birth trauma, mum guilt, overwhelm or feeling lost in motherhood, as well as difficulties that continue beyond this stage. Whether you are a mum or not, if you feel exhausted, stuck or disconnected from yourself, you are not alone.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my profile. We are shaped by the relationships in our lives — with others, with the world around us, and with ourselves. When these relationships break down, become overwhelming or painful, it can affect how we see and care for ourselves. Therapy can offer a supportive space to explore your experiences, deepen self-understanding, and cultivate a more compassionate and loving relationship with yourself.

Are you struggling with anxiety or depression? Unhappy, stressed, experiencing relationship problems, feeling alone or held back by bereavement? Therapy can be short term, 4-6 sessions and we can work together in a highly focused way, including exploring strategies if you wish to. For some, longer term therapy is preferred. In this we can explore issues in greater depth and you can be supported to make lasting changes in your life.

We have all have experienced painful things in our lives that have left a lasting mark. Sometimes, these experiences lead us to develop maladaptive ways of coping. Although these defences—such as anxiety—are ways that our mind tries to keep us safe, they ultimately lead to further suffering. I can offer a safe and open space to explore your story, challenge maladaptive beliefs and behaviours, and together work towards a place of healing.
