I am a doctor, who worked for 25 years for the NHS in Sexual Health and realising how important the emotional life was in the experience of sex and sexual problems, I undertook training in Psychosexual Medicine and then ran NHS psychosexual Clinics for 20 years.
Sex involves our emotions as well as our bodies and problems can arise both from physical problems, emotional responses or a combination of the two. I offer a non-judgemental, empathetic space in which to explore these difficulties and can provide support and guidance.
I have also worked with survivors of rape and am trauma informed.
Psychosexual Therapy is not prescriptive, and cannot solve all your problems, but it can empower you to find your own solutions to your sexual difficulties. Some of the concerns I address are:
Painful sex (Dyspareunia and Vaginismus)
Menopause & effects on sexual function
Loss of desire/Loss of libido
Difficulties with erections
Sex and illness e.g cancer
I spent many years working as a Sexual Offences Examiner, examining victims of rape and sexual abuse and so I am trauma informed and really understand the trauma of abuse.
As a Psychosexual Therapist, I focus on sexual problems and relationship difficulties and offer a non-judgemental space for individuals and couples to openly discuss difficulties.
