I can help people who are experiencing all levels of distress and unhappiness. You may have feelings of dissatisfaction and a sense that you are not getting all that you want in your life. At the other end of the spectrum you may be finding that every day is a real struggle with strong, even overwhelming, feelings of depression, anxiety, stress, anger etc. I believe that all of us want to strive to feel happier and more fulfilled than we currently are. We want to feel a connection with other people and to have a sense that we are leading meaningful, enjoyable lives - even when at times we feel at a loss as to how to achieve this.

We all have times in life when things seem to get on top of us. We may feel confused, anxious or depressed. Sometimes it feels like we are just going round in circles, getting nowhere in particular. Having someone to talk to can lighten the load and this is often easier with someone other than family or friends.

It can take the form of 'walk and talk' or, for those who would like to include some running, that is also an option. As a qualified counsellor I love combining being outside and moving with enabling people to find a way through difficulties in life. My counselling approach is an integrative one, although I place an emphasis on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). In particular I incorporate ideas from the most recent model which has been shown to have rapid and long-lasting impact for people suffering with anxiety or depression.

I have worked as psychologist, psychotherapist and family therapist since 1993. I have a background working with children, young people and families as a mentor, support worker and youth worker since 2004. I have worked in an early intervention family support project, a voluntary services youth organisation and for statutory services. I have experience of working with adopted and fostered children, children with special needs, children whose parents have separated and children who have experienced a range of other challenges and display aggressive, anxious or hyperactive behaviours.
