"My ideal client would come with a willingness to explore and be challenged. I will assist them in containing their emotions so that they are able to work safely and at a pace that encourages growth and change in a healthy way. Every client comes with unique issues and from my seat I view the issues as one, "a block in the road to wellness". I am keenly aware that all clients have a unique end point they wish to reach. For one this might be "just to feel better", while another may want to look at personal development. For me, I work with the client where they are and acknowledge and celebrate achievements. "

"I am an experienced Counsellor specializing in Relationship issues for individuals and couples, but also assist with everything else. I work from lovely, private rooms in Totnes and Exeter. I have worked in the Therapeutic field for 25 years and qualified as a Counsellor in 2010. I work Integratively drawing different techniques and experience into a holistic, caring approach. "The therapeutic space that client and therapist build together is an open space where thoughts, feelings and behaviours can be looked at in an accepting and allowing, as well as real and honest way. Doing so can help with issues such as depression, anxiety, bereavement, anger, relationship problems as well as less easily identifiable feelings such as existential insecurity or a general sense of meaninglessness. It can be difficult to talk to those close to you as they often, understandably, struggle to remain impartial."

"Hello, my name is Debbie and I would like the chance for us to work together. I am discreet and confidential. I understand how important that part of the service is for you, when you seek out any therapist. Why choose me? Because I know I can help you, there will be nothing about you, that will stop me wanting to work with you. I can even offer home visits for those that need a more tailored service. Please do not feel you are alone, let me hear your voice. I give you permission to grieve, I will let you cry and talk freely. Let me have, one hour out of your week, for you to have time for you. "

"I offer psychoanalysis in central Exeter for people who are looking for a space to speak. Entering into psychoanalysis entails a crossing of a threshold, and beginning a process of taking up a new kind of relation to oneself and one’s problems. Contemporary life poses particular challenges to us all: analysis presents us with an opportunity to speak in the presence of an Other about the specificity of the conditions of one’s life. In analysis, speech takes on new and sometimes strange dimensions - what we find ourselves saying surprises us as hidden thoughts unravel. This can mean attending to fleeting dreams and fantasies."

"Sometimes our problems feel too big or overwhelming to manage ourselves. Talking to a trusted and valued friend may help but often we are left struggling to cope with difficult emotions and thoughts which may lead us to feel stressed, anxious or depressed. We may notice that we are repeating the same unhelpful patterns of behaviour without understanding why or knowing how to change them. We may feel that we have lost our sense of control and purpose about our life, our relationships and our work, leading to a decreased sense of well-being, and an increase in negative emotions such as confusion, sadness and despondency."

"I find the focus of my work is people themselves rather than the specific issues they might initially arrive with: often people come to talk about one aspect of their lives and end up working on something completely different or they might feel unhappy or dissatisfied with their lives without being sure why. By developing a good relationship we can work together to explore what's going on and find a way to becoming happier and more fulfilled. The most important thing I do is provide a safe space, listen without judgement and offer insights/reflections that might help: many clients have told me they feel that I understand them."

Developmental Disorders Counsellors
'Developmental disorder' is the collective term used to describe the disorders, first diagnosed in a child's infancy or early childhood, which then become more apparent as the kids develop during their childhood and into their teens and adolescence. Like all labels, it means little and is open to interpretation.

The developmental disorders are categorised in to two areas: specific developmental disorders, which affect discrete parts of a kid's development, and the pervasive disorders (e.g. PDD Exeter), which affect multiple developmental basics. The specific developmental disorders include communication disorders, speech and language issues, such as stuttering or lisps in Exeter; learning disorders; and motor function or motor skills disorders, which may include tics or Tourette's in Exeter.

The pervasive developmental disorders (PDDs) include autism, asperger's, attention-deficit and disruptive behaviour disorders.

There are other issues that can affect childhood development, which are included in the developmental disorders--such as feeding and eating disorders, elimination disorders, separation anxiety disorder, and reactive attachment disorder.

Look here for help with children, kids or teens with developmental disorders in Exeter or Exeter developmental issues. Try an Exeter child counsellor, Exeter facility or Exeter treatment programme. These counsellors provide help with kids' developmental issues in Exeter, child development, teen development and adolescent development. They include developmental counsellors in Exeter, developmental psychologists, developmental therapists, and treatment for developmental disorders.
