Most of us experience times in our lives when we feel low, worried or anxious. This might be because of specific difficulties such as anxiety, night terrors, panic attacks or depression, it could also be a general sense of feeling down and simply not understanding why. Talking to an experienced, accredited therapist offers you the opportunity to explore what concerns you may have in a confidential, non-judgemental setting with someone who explores what life events might have contributed to these feelings. I have 14 years clinical counselling experience working with adults and 11 years working with young adults (21+).

There are times when everything feels like a struggle, when things become overwhelming and too difficult to manage alone. Sometimes the feelings of being 'fed up' or 'sad' takes a new meaning, and the support of family and friends is no longer enough. It is at these difficult times of loneliness when acute anxiety, stress and depression, can take hold. There are many different reasons or triggers for these feelings and everyone is different. Your reasons, and your story is special and I will endeavour to sit alongside you as we think together about your unique experience.

I have experience working with adults individually and couples with a wide variety of presenting problems including: relationship difficulties, low mood, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, OCD, eating disorders, addiction and trauma.
Everyone experiences emotional difficulties at some point in their life, but you don’t have to go through it alone. Sometimes it can be difficult to pinpoint exactly what’s wrong in our lives. Equally, you may know what’s wrong, but not necessarily how to go about changing things. I think it is important to recognise that no two people are the same, and I utilise my skills and training to customise counselling sessions in a collaborative way. I provide a non-judgemental, safe, confidential and therapeutic space where we can better understand what’s going on for you and explore ways to create or restore balance in your life.

Do you sometimes feel like a tangled ball of string, your thoughts and emotions all knotted up? Maybe you feel like a bottle of fizzy pop, all shook up ready to explode? Perhaps you feel foggy and lost or unable to quite put your finger on what you are feeling, but you know it's not quite right for you? Stress, Depression, Anxiety, Bereavement and Life Events can all affect how we feel. Sometimes there might not be a reason for why we are feeling a certain way. That's okay. We can work together to untangle the knots, settle the bubbles and clear the fog. Counselling isn't one size fits all. Together we will find what works for you.

Everyone can struggle at times - with anxiety, low self-esteem, depression or just feeling low. Close relationships can go stale or get into difficulties. Bereavements can knock us sideways - sometimes 'hitting' suddenly even though it happened some years ago. Recent or past traumatic events can have a huge impact on our wellbeing. These are some of the emotional difficulties people struggle with. Close relationships have their ups and downs and emotions, even negative ones, are a normal part of our daily lives. It's when they drag us down, affect our quality of life, become overwhelming, that counselling can be a great help.

I work using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which has a long-established reputation for being a tested and successful way of reducing depression and anxiety.
Have anxiety and low mood got the better of you? At times we get stuck in overwhelming, vicious cycles. After changing the way I engage with my own anxious thoughts, I decided to train to be a psychotherapist so I could help other people do the same. I wish I’d known about CBT when I was in my 20s! If you are feeling a little overwhelmed by anxiety, then Cognitive Behavioural Therapy could help you too. I help clients to examine what is maintaining their issues, and from there, develop coping techniques for the future. It's impossible to eliminate anxiety altogether, but you can build your resilience and learn to surf the wave!

Life is short, and struggling emotionally can get in the way of so much. I have particular experience working with persistent anxiety & depression, living beyond mental health diagnosis, bereavement & the effects of cancer/illness. I also work with creativity/intensity/giftedness. I won't label you, or feel you have anything “wrong” with you. Life is hard, complicated and can have a huge effect on all of us. Our biology affects us, our past experiences affect us, and life and the future affect us too. But how we respond to those effects, and live right now, is the most powerful tool we have.

Have you been struggling through life, feeling overwhelmed and wishing you had someone to talk to? It could just be a general sense of feeling down or more deep-rooted feelings of loneliness, anxiety, stress and depression. If this is you then talking to a trained therapist presents the opportunity for you to explore your issues. My beliefs are that it is important to recognise that no two people’s journeys are the same and because of this I utilise my skills and training to tailor counselling sessions.

Depression Counsellors
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression counsellors in Leicester. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
