We all want our children to be happy and to thrive and it can be painful for us if they are experiencing any form of difficulty: withdrawal, anxiety, anger or emotional outbursts. It can be confusing for a child to understand their feelings and to communicate effectively. Children and adolescents may struggle with low mood or anxiety for many reasons, including low self-esteem, insecure attachments, trauma, special educational needs, parental separation or bereavement. This can sometimes have a profound impact on family life, school life, friendships and relationships.

I am a child and adolescent psychodynamic psychotherapist working with children, young people and families from 4 - 25 years, with previous experience as a teacher and SENDCo. I work for a psychotherapy organisation in schools, and in private practice, using play, observation and talking to help make sense of difficult feelings and behaviours.
Being the parent or carer of a child/adolescent who is experiencing difficulties can be stressful and overwhelming. I work closely with parents, thinking together about what is being communicated, considering helpful ways to respond. Please contact me for an initial free 15 minute consultation to discuss ways in which I may help.
