Choosing a counsellor is a big step which can feel daunting. How do you find the therapist who will be right for you? If you are new to counselling, the various theoretical approaches listed by therapists can be confusing. Current research shows that more important than the theory is the therapeutic relationship (the relationship between you and me) and this is the cornerstone of my work. My theoretical approach is Integrative, drawing on the Psycho-dynamic, Humanistic and Existential schools within a relational working model which emphasizes the Humanistic philosophy and embraces Person Centered core process.
I am a qualified integrative Counselor/Psychotherapist with a practice in South West London. I have worked in the NHS for many years in mental health, and trained in Art and Music Therapy. I have studied, practiced and taught meditation techniques and mindfulness for a number of years and at times integrate these into the therapeutic process.
I believe in a person centered, compassionate approach in which the client is free to set their agenda elaborate and focus on whatever they feel is most pressing to them in the present moment. I believe counselling is an organic process that fulfils a basic human need for a meaningful and genuine connection, but that is also completely private and personal.
