Don't despair, help is at hand" I have been an integrative therapist for over ten years and lecture at Inter- Psyche, Kent and Medway NHS Trust. I work with children and adults, in couples or individually. I utilise an array of counselling approaches as I believe not one method is superior to another and that we are all unique individuals.I have helped my clients understand themselves better, be it overcoming depression, loss, anxiety or improving their personal relationships. What to expect: Counselling is about building a trusting relationship. To help you feel safe and secure I provide a boundaried, respectful, confidential and non-discriminative alliance. At the end of our first session I always ask “do you feel you can work with me”, as it is important that you feel comfortable and safe. Due to the busyness of modern day life and people being constantly on the move, I am able to accommodate this by offering skype or telephone sessions. Next step Seeking help is often the hardest part yet I would like to commend you on your courage for taking this first step. Get in touch so we can start this journey together.

We may use different words to describe what's going on for us when we are looking for therapy: unsure, fed up, low, empty, frustrated, anxious, panicky, over-thinking, unable to sleep, too sensitive, or like can't carry on... Perhaps feeling not in control, not belonging, invisible or wanting to escape, or lost. It can be overwhelming, taking too much from us. So starting therapy is right. We can use therapy space, free of judgement, expectation or failure, to talk it all through and work things out.

Life can be hard and sometimes certain moments, times, and actions can add to this. When this happens, it can be hard to talk about it and especially to the people close to us. Sometimes we just need to talk to someone in impartial, who will not judge and just listen. I am an Integrative/Person Centered based counsellor who has experience of working with people from the age of 12 to 70 and I am here to listen to you with no judgement. I have experience of working with people who have different mental health issues and disorders.

Do you feel misunderstood, confused, angry, and isolated? Do your loved ones and friends comment on how you've changed? Sounds familiar? You may be suffering from PTSD, grief or trauma. Don't despair. There is hope. As a qualified mental health practitioner and trauma therapist I have worked with people like you. Sometimes our lives are interrupted by events, changing circumstances and personal challenges. Having a trusting and non-judgemental relationship with a caring professional, can enable you to work through such difficult times and move forward. We can work together to explore your current situation in a safe, non-directive and confidential way. This will give you the opportunity to reflect, question, process, allow for change, or whatever you feel is necessary at this time. If what you need is someone to listen unconditionally and respectfully, as you find your way on your journey, then we can work together.

Choosing the right counsellor for YOU is a daunting task. Do you go with the profile picture and the smile, the blurb, the qualifications or the experience? We all look for different things in a person and choosing a stranger that you may want to tell your innermost thoughts and feelings to is HUGE. I specialise in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), using the Rewind Technique where a client can gain closure to traumatic events. Rewind can be completed in 2-3 sessions, where involuntary recall and avoidance behaviour can stop. There is no disclosure in Rewind; there is closure without disclosure. See my website for costs.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
