Many clients I work with struggle with anxiety, low self-worth, people-pleasing, and a fear of abandonment or rejection that shows up in relationships. Using a trauma-informed, attachment-focused approach, I help clients understand how early experiences shaped their nervous system, emotions, and patterns of relating. I am a psychotherapist specialising in work with adults who grew up in emotionally unsafe or invalidating environments. Therapy with me offers a safe, collaborative space to build emotional regulation, self-trust, and healthier, more secure relationships. Together we can help you move out of survival mode and thrive.

Hello, I'm Jo - a BACP-registered person-centred counsellor with over 30 years of experience supporting adults and young people through a wide range of emotional difficulties. Life can be unpredictable, and sometimes we’re faced with events that shake our sense of stability — whether it’s the loss of someone important, relationship difficulties, anxiety, low mood, or feelings that are hard to name. You may find that current experiences are stirring up old patterns or emotions, or you might simply feel overwhelmed without knowing exactly why.

Currently on Maternity Leave - Life doesn't really go as expected and finding the right support is key to move forward. I use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in combination with Systemic therapy allowing a tailored approach based on clients needs. CBT is aimed to support clients identifying the triggers and the dynamics that hide behind their difficulties, learning coping strategies to deal with them. Systemic therapy is often considered an approach to treat families and groups however, it also effectively apply to individuals.

Are you at that stage of knowing that something’s wrong, you’re unhappy, maybe knowing what the problem is, but not how to fix it? Maybe you need someone to listen, understand, ‘get’ you, but you also want things to change. You might be suffering from anxiety, unwanted anger or low mood/depression, have social anxiety, low confidence or low self-esteem. Or having a difficulty with a relationship or a situation. You may have issues caused by childhood trauma or more recent traumatic events, panic attacks, fear of driving/ flying or phobias. Or perhaps there’s nothing obvious; you just want more from your life.

Counselling can provide a space to slow down, reflect, and begin to understand what’s happening beneath the surface—in a way that respects your pace. I support healing from difficult thoughts and emotions, exploring the deeper roots of what you’re experiencing, and building practical tools to care for your wellbeing beyond counselling. My approach is holistic, integrative, and tailored to you, with the goal of creating sustainable wellbeing. I work with adults, young people, and couples. If you’re unsure about counselling, an initial session offers an opportunity to explore whether this feels like the right fit for you.

You’re tired of holding it all together for everyone around you so they don't worry about you. On the outside, you might seem "fine". But inside? You’re anxious, overwhelmed, and overthinking everything. You find it hard to speak up, ask for help, or make decisions without second-guessing yourself or worrying about being a burden or inconsiderate. You want to feel more confident and put yourself first for once, but don’t know how. You’re ready to feel less stuck, and more like you're moving forward. Therapy feels like a big step, but you know you’re ready to stop doing it all alone.
