We specialise in anxiety, depression, family and relationship issues, trauma, addiction, and self-esteem.
If you’re considering therapy, it might be due to a rough patch that has turned your world upside down or a lingering feeling of being lost or stuck. You might be battling anxiety or depression, feeling the weight of old wounds in your current relationships, or sensing that life's just not what you thought it would be. These internal battles can be disorienting, making every day a little harder to face. In therapy, we will work together to shine a light on the patterns you are tired of repeating, the thoughts that keep you awake at night, and the feelings that might not have a name yet.

The therapeutic relationship is key, and by offering honesty and openness in a non-judgmental environment, we can work together to achieve what is best for you and your family.
Are you a parent who is worried about their teenager? Are you struggling to communicate with one another whilst finding it hard to understand each other? Does your young person suffer with anxiety or persistent low moods? Maybe they are struggling academically and/or refusing to go to school? Would you benefit from having an open and honest conversation with your young person in a safe and familiar environment? Young people want to be heard. They want to be respected and treated as adults.

Are you baffled by your relationship with a narcissist? Are you exhausted by the mind games, gas-lighting and deceit? Have you friends grown bored of hearing you talk about the same issues? Fret not, you're not alone.  There’s no two ways about it, narcissists are very difficult personalities. They’re sly, conniving and incredibly devious. Until you’ve been subjected to their abuse, you just won’t get it. This sad fact often results in their victims being increasingly isolated. Isolation exacerbates the narcissists control and creates a fertile ground for further abuse.  Its no wonder the relationship compromises your sanity.

In my counselling room, the therapeutic work is collaborative and cooperative, and the therapeutic relationship is the vehicle for the clients’ self-discovery journey.
As a people pleaser, you are used to putting others before yourself. People often describe you as the Nice Guy/Girl and often confide in you with what they are going through but you don’t really have the someone to do the same for you. You often feel lonely, lost, unappreciated and unseen. You wonder when will I be seen and appreciated for all I do and who you are? When will I find someone to help me as much as I help others. What if that could all change?

I am a qualified Person Centred therapist which means I believe the relationship we build is the essential foundation for the therapeutic work.
Childhood trauma, unhealthy patterns, addiction and trauma can all result in unresolved pain. Being able to explore that pain in a non judgemental, confidential, empathic space can be an essential life changing experience. Many clients come to therapy wanting change and emotional health, awareness of where that pain comes from and the journey to understand its impact on our lives today is a crucial part of healing. Often our trauma is not recognised, believed or simply understood. Yet we're living with the impact of these issues. It takes courage to acknowledge our pain but for those who can it can give us the tools to change.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
