I believe we are all products of our upbringing and experiences. Sometimes, this can lead to a variety of struggles with issues such as anxiety, low self esteem, confusion and not feeling good in relationships. I can work with you to unravel what this is all about and help you find new ways of coping and moving forwards. We can talk or use creative methods to facilitate this discovery process. I work with young people, adults and couples for short or long term one to one sessions which are all driven by you and on your terms. I offer a free, initial meeting so you can decide if I am the right Counsellor for you.

Are you constantly experiencing relationship challenges, leaving you feeling distressed, bewildered, let down and perhaps even angry and self blaming for repeating these patterns? It can be utterly devastating to keep finding ourselves stuck in this way. Whether in intimate relationships, family dynamics, friendships or work situations, I can support you to explore the origins of these difficult issues, leading to healthier relationships with others. Maybe you have experienced some of the above and are also in the Creative/Performing Arts Community or Film/ Media.

Our counselling offers help in addressing the difficult areas of your life. This might involve loss and grief, relationship troubles or problems at work. Equally, there are times when the cause is not clear but you still feel something is wrong. Colleagues, family and friends can be a great source of support but it's not always easy to confide in those closest to you. At times like these, talking to someone who is not personally involved can make a difference. A professional counsellor will listen to you without making judgments and can help you find new resources within yourself.

I am a specialist psychosexual and relationship therapist and offer a warm and empathetic space to discuss issues that people can often find difficult or embarrassing.
We can all struggle with our relationships, both sexually & emotionally, and talking about these problems can be particularly daunting. These struggles can take many forms, ranging from conflict difficulties, marital problems, pain during intercourse, a lack of desire, erectile dysfunction, sexual identity, childhood trauma affecting our adult relationships and many others. Taking the first step to seek out therapy is a difficult one, but one that could help to break the cycle we are currently playing out. I provide the same warmth and care to all members of society. LGBTQ+, kink and fetish friendly.

I am a warm, honest and open counsellor with a flexible, creative, gentle yet challenging style. The relationship we develop will support you to explore and understand difficult issues; increase self awareness; and improve connection. Many clients come to me saying they feel "confused" "alone" "desperate" "lost". I will work with you to help you uncover and explore your truth, as so often we have lost sight of or do not even know what it is.

Having a fulfilling and lasting relationship is something we all aspire to, but it isn't always easy. Relationships can go wrong for all sorts of reasons and it's difficult to know where to go for help. In my work as a sex and relationship therapist, I work with both couples and individuals to not only get your relationship back on track and improve communication, but also to help it develop so that it achieves its full potential. Often, problems in a relationship can be an opportunity to develop it so get in touch with me if you need some help either to heal a crisis or to make your relationship the best it can be.

My experience in working with young people, adults, couples & families from diverse backgrounds through schools, charities & private practice means that I can support families & individuals from all backgrounds.
I'm passionate about supporting families, couples, adults & teens to understand their unhealthy relationships (maybe family dynamics) or move past difficult life events to give you/your family the confidence to be healthier & happier in all connections with others. Are other relationships being affected; family, romantic, friendships, work, school? Do you struggle with (sometimes chronic) health issues? I struggled with abusive/narcissistic relationships for years & needed support to understand how this affected me & what I needed to change to have healthy relationships.

I am a person-centred counsellor specialising in anxiety and self-esteem, which are often related also to trauma, depression, panic and relationship issues and difficult early life experiences.
Are you exhausted by the effort it takes to manage your feelings? Do you want to feel safe? Do you wonder who you are or why you feel bad? Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, low self esteem, panic disorders or relationship problems, there is good news. Research has shown that a good relationship with a counsellor/therapist can really help. My approach is to help you understand both 'your hidden self' (the unconscious) and find everyday tools and tasks that can help you change your life. I hope I can show you that all the wisdom and creativity you need to enjoy your life is within reach.

March 2024. I have some availability for couples and individuals. I'm an integrative therapist (humanistic/existential/psychoanalytic) also influenced by the cognitive awareness that comes from mindfulness. However, my practice is influenced just as much by my own lived experience and my doubts about the efficacy of the medical model of dealing with mental health issues. I've been practising since 2011 and have a broad range of experience of dealing with many aspects of human distress and suffering including depression, anxiety, self-esteem, trauma, bereavement and loss, and problems in family and other relationships.

Couples therapy is very different from individual therapy.
With well over a decade’s experience as a Couples Therapist, I will provide you with effective help to break through old, unhealthy patterns, and fulfil your relationship’s potential. Couples often come to therapy worn out by constant arguing, feeling there is a lack of closeness and intimacy, and lacking the tools to meet the challenges. With a range of research-based approaches, I adopt an enquiring approach to understand what partners would like to achieve in therapy together. With the right psychological tools, it becomes possible to completely turn things around as new, more productive habits are developed.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
