Hello and a very warm welcome to you! People come to therapy for a variety of reasons. Perhaps you are experiencing difficulty with knowing what your feelings are. Or are struggling to express them. Alternately, you may be feeling very disconnected, unfulfilled or empty. Maybe you are confused about who you are, or what you want from life, and this prevents you from living in the moment. Are you trying to cope with a difficult life event, or is there just the sense that things are not right?

Well done for taking the first steps to healing and feeling good about yourself. Life is sometimes so complicated that past and present issues get in the way and muddy the waters even more. I think we have all been there at some point in our life. Maybe you have reached the point where 'enough is enough' and if feels that talking to somebody neutral would be good. I totally understand where you are coming from, I've been there too! It takes courage to do something about the stuff we carry around instead of keep burying our head in the sand. I'm here to help you wade your way through this difficult time in your life.

If you have come across my profile because you’re facing a challenging time right now, I would love the opportunity to support you in beginning your journey to creating the changes you hope for.  Maybe your relationship feels strained or work is making you anxious. You might find yourself replaying situations or events from the past, unsure of how to move forward. Life might feel boring, your relationships may feel unfulfilling. Perhaps you compare yourself to friends or co-workers and feel like you are failing. Maybe you consider yourself to have low self-esteem but don’t really know how to become more confident.

There can be many reasons why, at different times in our life, we may experience feelings of anxiety, depression, or simply not feel like ourselves. Bereavement, trauma, stress and anxiety can cause difficulties in our relationships, jobs and or family life. My aim is to gently explore these feelings with you. Together we can look at what it is that has brought you to therapy and when words are not enough, the arts are there to help you express and communicate what you are feeling.

We all have moments in which we feel vulnerable in the stressful world of nowadays. Life is challenging and most of us has experienced how it can become overwhelming. There are moments in life when we may look at our problems as without solutions and asking for help as meaningless. And so we keep going along with things as they are. Throughout psychotherapy, you will have the opportunity to raise issues that are currently on your mind and to acquire awareness and self-confidence, allowing healthier and happier ways of living.

I know that the process of therapy can be difficult, overwhelming and confusing. I aim to provide you with a warm, calm and safe space in which you can heal and grow. This can be through talking about your experiences, or through more creative, imaginative ways like using pieces of writing, music, stories, art, or another medium you may feel more in tune with. I work integratively – this means that I incorporate lots of different therapy approaches together, so your therapy sessions are unique to you and move fluidly and creatively - just like you.

With coping skills or coping mechanisms, we learn to overcome issues like stress, depression, anger or anxiety.

Pro-active coping involves dealing with a problem by using constructive coping activities such as planning, confrontation, self-control and restraint. Overuse of coping mechanisms, like avoiding problems or working obsessively, can exacerbate the weakness.

Emotion based coping skills reduce symptoms by addressing our feelings e.g. discussing the issues, distraction, relaxation, reframing or humor can all help. But negative coping mechanisms, which tend to be impulsive, like denial, projection, rationalisation, repression or wishful thinking can make the underlying problem worse.

Some coping methods are more like bad habits than constructive life skills e.g. drinking and drugs. Other examples might include skin biting, nail biting or hair pulling (trichotillomania).

If you find it hard to cope or are having trouble coping, counsellors in M29 can help develop constructive coping skills for children, coping skills for kids and life coping skills.

If you're looking for help with coping skills in M29 or for a M29 coping skills counsellor, these professionals provide coping strategies. They include M29 coping skills counsellors, coping skills psychologists, coping skills psychotherapists and coping skills counselling.

How can I tell if a counsellor is right for me?
Counsellors and therapists in M29 are able to work with a wide range of issues.

For example, you can find CBT Therapists in M29 who focus on a specific issue, as well as DBT Therapists in M29 who help clients with new skills to manage their emotions and relationships.

If you're seeking a marriage counsellor in M29 you'll find that most therapists are trained in marriage counselling or couples counselling in M29 and couples therapy. And they welcome families for family counselling in M29 or family therapy in M29.
