Hello my name is Claire, I am a Counsellor based in Sheffield. My aim is to help you to work through what you feel is holding you back, this may be a life event, relationship difficulties, or a sense of feeling that you are battling with yourself. I will support you to help find ways out of difficulties, or ways of managing at your own pace. This may be to reduce the struggle you have with your emotions or explore unhelpful patterns you notice in your life. You may be seeking to make a change or to work out what is preventing you from moving forward.
The way I work involves a a Compassion Focused Therapy approach (CFT) which can help if you are feel very self critical, have feelings about your body, anxiety, difficulties in relationships and comparing yourself to others. CFT can help you to work out your barriers to being less critical towards yourself and others and to move towards self acceptance.
I enjoy helping people to identify their strengths and move forwards. It can feel impossible to even consider that we are good enough, especially if we are encouraged to measure our worth based on our appearance, the work we do or how ‘busy’ we are. If you feel you are caught in a cycle of striving and comparing yourself to others, counselling may help.
