I am a Senior Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with 23 years of experience in CAMHS (NHS). I help children and young people (up to the age of 25) with a wide variety of mental health difficulties ranging from mild to complex symptoms. Psychotherapy aims to help us discover our emotional difficulties and how these are communicated via our symptoms and behaviour. I offer long, short-term individual psychotherapy, parent, and family work. I provide a safe, non-judgmental, compassionate space, where all types of thought, feelings, needs can be listened to, validated, and explored.
Attention is drawn on how past and current experiences have an impact on our emotional world, functioning and patterns of relating to others. This understanding supports us to build the capacity to regulate our feelings, embrace all aspects of ourselves and grow our resilience. Research has shown that psychotherapy continues to be helpful after therapy ends.
In my work with parents,we reflect on their child's behaviour, difficulties and on their relationship with them.We explore their internal parenting templates as they stem from their childhood and how these can have an impact on their parenting style. This enables parents develop better responses to them improve their relationship and support their recovery.
