With a vast multidisciplinary background, I propose various types of therapy adapted to the pace and needs of each person, providing active, welcoming and empathic listening.A brief results-based therapy to cope with the demands of modern life, recommended to solve a wide range of problems such as unexpected events, depression, anxiety, lack of self-esteem,burnout,etc.I will assist you in discovering your inner resources for conflict resolution.I also propose a psychoanalytic therapy where we can work more deeply and generate a broad knowledge of oneself, helping to unburden feelings that have been stored, to act more consciously.

The ideal client is of course anyone ready to make real change in their lives, but I work with many seeking to reach that point. Clients see me asking “Why do I feel like this?” Once we have worked through why you do, the next goal is to see how you can change your mindset, rewrite the script so that your attitude to certain situations no longer causes you distress.

The modality that I use is person-centred and experiential however I draw from a broad range of theoretical perspectives to work in an integrative way. I work in a sex and body positive way, this includes working with those who work in the sex industry. The majority of my working life has been working with individuals who have experienced personal and vicarious trauma or those who live or work in a chaotic and traumatic environment. When working with dissociative identity disorder as a presentation double length sessions (100 minutes) are available.

Fear and other emotions, such as shame, as well as as familiar yet unhealthy patterns in our thinking, behaviour, and relationships can keep us stuck. Psychotherapy can help. In my work so far, I’ve witnessed many clients change and find healthier ways to connect to themselves and the world. I have practiced psychotherapy in Beirut and New York City, before coming to London.

Do you feel like you live in a world that doesn’t accept who you are? A dear friend of mine once summed up this feeling beautifully: “Being LGBTIQ+ is not my issue, it’s living in a world where others take issue with me being LGBTIQ+”. When we live in a society that does not see or respect our difference we internalize a lot of messages and beliefs about who we should, or should not, be. Trying to shape ourselves into an image that doesn’t fit isn’t just exhausting - it’s traumatizing! Hi, my name is Gavin and I identify as a gender non-conforming Queer person.

I am a registered Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) Practitioner Psychologist, and am on the British Psychological Society Register of Applied Psychology Practice Supervisors (RAPPS). I have been in Private Practice in Central London for nine years. Before spending ten years in full-time study and training in London universities and NHS Trusts to qualify as a psychologist, I spent a decade travelling, mainly around Asia, studying Eastern psychology and philosophy. Thus, I have a rich lens of psychological perspectives through which I understand and work with the mind. Psychoanalytic thinking underpins my approach to therapy.

As a psycho-dynamic practitioner, I see my role first as to provide you with a safe and confidential space in which explore whatever issues you may be experiencing. At unpacking what seem to be the problem, I would listen up to the symptoms but my interest would be on the collaborative understanding of the underlying cause. Exploring and understanding this, would be the body of the work. And it is that, what brings change, and a change that is lasting because will be located not in the symptom but on what caused it in the first place.

Hi, I'm Christina. I am an American expat living in the UK since 2020. If you’re hurting, I’m here to help. Life can be challenging and seeking support is a commendable step in taking care of yourself. I believe every human being is important and should always feel safe, cared for, and valued, especially in the therapeutic setting. This is a vital part of the sessions I offer and I believe strongly in respect, non-judgement, honesty and integrity as these are the foundations for your healing.

While you may be seeking therapy to help you out of a dark or difficult time- due to anxiety, depression, relationship issues, crisis of meaning, insomnia... therapy can be a powerful gift. We learn a great deal about ourselves and others- ultimately about living life with more ease and enjoyment. We'll get curious about what you learnt growing up: your world-view, your assumptions and even your bodily responses to situations that you face today. We'll see what has worked for you and what causes pain or limits you- to unblock and clear the path forward with compassion, kindness, insight, and even at times, a sense of humour.

Chronic Illness Counsellors

How does therapy for chronic illness work?

Many people living with a chronic illness may feel they cannot speak honestly about their experience out of embarrassment or fear of being a burden, or because those close to them do not understand, for example, that they may “look good” even if they do not feel good. Therapy sessions are an opportunity to speak openly with someone who knows their symptoms are not in their head and who can offer practical, proven suggestions for managing feelings of grief, shame, or fatigue, such as techniques to challenge unhelpful thoughts about symptoms and develop new ways to respond to them, such as distraction or calming breathing practices.

Can therapy help with physical symptoms of chronic illness?

Yes, especially if an individual with chronic illness has developed depression. People with depression are less likely to maintain their health treatment regimens or to take positive steps to manage physical symptoms when they arise, thereby potentially complicating their medical prognosis. Treatment of depression, through talk therapy, medication, or both, will often improve one’s physical state as it eases the emotional burden of illness.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic illness?

No one living with a chronic illness, or their loved ones, should see depression as an unavoidable result of their condition. Instead, they should actively seek treatment. Research shows that people with depression are less likely to devote the required time and effort to maintaining or monitoring their health, and so therapy to limit the risk of depression can be vital for physical health as well. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy and mindfulness-based stress reduction have been found to help individuals reduce stress and anxiety.

How long does therapy for chronic illness take?

There is no set timeline for therapy for people living with chronic illnesses, but many will see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 weekly sessions. Some people feel that they experience progress faster than others but even some who quickly feel improvement may continue with sessions for months or years. Some people may benefit from maintenance therapy if their symptoms change or they experience a decline in physical health. Others find that the skills learned in short-term therapy can be used on an ongoing basis, even after therapy has concluded.
