I have worked as a psychotherapist for over 30 years in the NHS, voluntary sector and privately. I trained as a psychoanalyst having worked in the mental health charity sector initially. I worked for some 25 years running a community-based counselling service in central London. I like to work with a range of people, usually on a once weekly or more frequent basis. I work with people who are seeking to understand themselves better - their relationships with others as well as with themselves. I hope that I can help them make sense of difficulties or challenges in their lives in order to live more fully and creatively.
The core of my work is to help people understand themselves better through the exploration in therapy of some of the unconscious processes that might be inhibiting their fulfilment and pleasure in life. I think that therapy provides a hugely valuable space to think creatively together about how to live the best lives we can for ourselves and others.
An initial talk can help identity what might be the focus of therapy and from their we can begin the process of meeting together if that feels right. The therapy can be reviewed as we go along to ensure we are in the right area in what we are exploring and that the work continues to be of value to you.
