Often children’s emotions overwhelm them and they need a space & time to express them safely. Child Psychotherapy helps a child or young person explore & make sense of their reactions to a situation, event or internal struggle. This can be associated to worries about a range of difficulties including: family breakdown, transition, loss & bereavement, peer & sibling relationships, anxiety & depression.
I work with all children and have a special interest in working with children & families who are experiencing the impacts of trauma & early attachment difficulties. I am also a qualified clinical supervisor, offering both individual & group sessions. I am accredited through UKCP, have full professional indemnity & enhanced DBS.
I use a range of creative interventions to help a child/young person to understand their difficulties. While teenagers may prefer to mix talk and creative methods, younger children will generally resolve their struggles through play, especially when they are accompanied by the therapist in this process.
