Cherie Deakin
Psychotherapist, MA, MBACP
Sometimes the issues we face paralyse us with anxieties. Sometimes we have no one in our lives who are able to help or we may not want to burden others. It’s difficult to trust people with our innermost worries, feelings and thoughts. Yet we all need help to get through difficult periods in our lives. It may be that friends and family tell us to stop dwelling on the past or try and move on. But no matter how hard we try, the past hangs around to haunt us or we have no words to describe what we feel. Additionally, we may wish to explore our experience for personal or professional reasons.
My practice has been informed by a career of supporting people spanning 26 years. I am a trauma-informed, relational psychotherapist. I use evidence-based theory and techniques derived from contemporary trauma research, neuroscience, combined with psychodynamic and humanistic therapy. I can also assist with personal development and psychotherapy for students
Together we can explore patterns in feelings and behaviours by building a trusting relationship. Develop ways to gain control of upsetting or disturbing thoughts and feelings: explore how the past affects our present and how to interrupt cycles that cause us suffering. It is possible to gain control, and I welcome clients who wish to start that journey.
