I'm experienced working with children, teens and adults regularly working within the primary and secondary education system throughout Fife and in an agency environment. I understand the unique developmental needs and challenges faced by a younger age group regularly exploring issues around self-esteem, social anxiety, general anxiety, anger, loss, attachment issues, self- harm, suicidal ideation, sexual abuse and neuro-divergence. My work with adults includes dealing with the effects of trauma, childhood sexual abuse and relational difficulties inc emotional, domestic and narcissistic abuse and childhood emotional neglect.
How we cope when we feel vulnerable, invalidated, scared, lonely, betrayed etc. can feel out of our control. We do what we can to feel safe. Avoiding feeling vulnerable can show up in many ways. It might be self-soothing in ways we know aren’t helpful, anxiety making our life smaller, anger, self-isolating by rejecting people before they reject us etc.
Our resilience, emotional regulation and ability to trust can all be affected by gaps in feeling connected, valued and safe. In everyday life it’s not often we get the space to really look at what is going on. My aim is to facilitate self-compassion and psychological flexibility.
