With a diverse background in community psychological services, NHS secondary care affective disorder services, specialist eating disorder services, and NeuroDevelopmental Disorder services, I possess a wealth of experience in addressing a wide range of issues, including ADHD, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, emotion dysregulation, borderline disorder, bipolar disorders and trauma. I aim to tailor treatment to meet the specific needs of clients, rather than requiring clients to adapt to a pre-determined model.

There is no question life is stressful - but the good news is that help is available. You do not have to struggle alone. We all need a neutral, non-judgmental person to talk things through with. I believe that knowing you are not alone, and having that safe place to express your fears, or uncover how the past influences you today, is essential for mental health.

Whether you're are feeling stuck in life, experiencing anxiety or depression or perhaps struggling with relationship issues that can't be resolved, the good news is that these are common issues that counselling can help with. I use the three main proven approaches used within counselling - psychodynamic, person-centred (sometimes referred to as humanistic) and cognitive-behavioural as well as EMDR therapy to treat trauma. This gives you more choice and, in turn, creates the flexibility to move towards your personal goals.

Hello, I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, CAT Therapist and Coach. I am passionate about working with people in the way that they find most helpful. We can all find ourselves at a point in our lives when things are not how we’d like them to be. We can be caught up in negative patterns, experience difficult symptoms (such as struggling with sleep or anxiety, feeling low or stressed) and have difficulties with our relationships, work or our health. We may have experienced something traumatic or stressful that we struggle to cope with or find ourselves caught up in a negative situation that we don’t seem to be able to escape.

I am an integrative psychotherapist and work with individuals aged 18+ for both short-term and open-ended therapy. People seek therapy for different reasons. Often it is because they feel stuck, stressed, overwhelmed or hurt. You might be struggling with a relationship, coping with stress or hoping to change a behaviour that is not working for you. When things are difficult, a psychotherapist can support you and help you to grow in whichever way is right for you. I won't tell you what to do, but I will support you to find a way forward for yourself. I am accredited by the UKCP and a member of the BACP.

They might be having trouble in friendships or relationships, experiencing anxiety or depression, have lost someone close to them, be struggling with low self-esteem or body image issues, engaging in self-harm, or just not feeling quite themselves. Hi, my name is Laura Turner and I am an experienced Clinical Psychologist, with training in Cognitive Analytic Therapy. Sometimes people can find themselves stuck in patterns of thinking, feeling and doing and may struggle to know what is preventing them from moving forward and making change. You may be feeling stressed or anxious, experiencing low mood, problems with sleep or be having difficulties in your relationships, at work or with your health. You may have experienced difficult or traumatic events, either in the past or more recently and these may be impacting how you cope, keeping you stuck in negative patterns.

Hi I'm Charlotte and I'm a Clinical Psychologist and Systemic Practitioner. I feel strongly about working with people in a collaborative manner to form an effective working partnership in understanding some of the patterns that are keeping you ‘stuck’. You may currently feel trapped in a vicious and unhelpful cycle, uncertain of how you can break out of it. This can often mean that day to day life is really difficult, and for some people, this can get in the way of leading the fulfilling life they would want to live. I currently work with individuals from children aged 13+ through to older adults, as well as families and couples.

Life feeling difficult? Discouraged at how hard everything feels? I've been there. I can help you find the confidence to decide you want to be in life. Do you get an anxious knot in your stomach on Sunday evening, thinking about the week ahead? Yet you can't ever seem to work hard enough or achieve enough to calm that feeling. Does this spill over into your relationships at home or work and you find yourself unaccountably irritated or angry with others, or withdrawing from them? Do you want to make changes but you have no idea what, never mind where, to start? I can help you find your path.

I seek to offer you a safe, confidential space where you can share your story. Whilst I have worked with a number of difficulties, these tend to have a common, but individually unique grounding - how we as humans have learnt to survive and cope in difficult circumstances, and together in therapy we can start to make sense of how your experiences and relationships have shaped you in order to develop a road map for repairing relationships, overcoming difficulties, being kinder to yourself and developing new ways of coping in order to live a better and more fulfilling life.

I have a deep trust in the healing capacity that a counselling relationship can provide. I believe each individual brings with them their own qualities & experiences, everyone is unique. Seeing beyond labels to the person, I recognize that it is the individual that knows themself best. I strive to build relationships in which clients say they feel empowered & listened to as I offer an attentive, understanding and accepting space. The nature of my counselling practice allows the individuals I work with to acquire compassion & gentleness for self, to develop healthy boundaries that allow personal growth and healing.

For some time now you might have been struggling to make sense of how you are feeling and wish to talk things through with a professional. This could relate to difficulties with your mood and some behaviours you are not happy with and want to explore and work on these. Perhaps this was because of a recent event, or something that is related to your early childhood experiences, or even a combination of different life circumstances. You may be thinking that despite already seeking help for some of the issues that you have been facing, you feel unfulfilled and think that something is missing in terms of healing.

Hi, I'm Charlotte and I am a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist working within the NHS and in private practice. I have been working in mental health services for over 10 years with individuals across the lifespan with a wide range of difficulties. As a Psychologist, I offer a person-centred approach to individuals who may be looking for support with anxiety, low mood, trauma, relationship difficulties and so on. We begin by engaging in a period of assessment, coming to a shared understanding of your difficulties, and deciding how best to support you to move forward in a longlasting way that continues after therapy.

Borderline Personality (BPD) Counsellors

What is the most successful approach to treating borderline personality disorder?

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is considered the gold standard of treatment for borderline personality disorder. An evidence-based treatment, it addresses the extreme emotional reactivity, the relationship difficulties, and the acts of self-harm that create so much distress for BPD patients. DBT is a comprehensive program that includes both regular individual psychotherapy sessions and weekly group sessions of skills training.

What happens in treatment of borderline personality disorder?

Treatment typically consists of weekly individual therapy sessions that last an hour and group skill-focused instructional sessions that may last up to two hours. Patients are typically given homework “assignments” in which they are asked to practice in their daily life the skills they acquire in therapy. Patients also keep a diary tracking their emotions and impulses as a way to know which situations are most problematic and to help them gain control over their own behavior. Difficult situations and feelings are typically reviewed in therapy sessions and more constructive solutions found.

What kinds of problems does BPD treatment help with?

DBT was initially developed to dampen the self-destructive impulses of chronically suicidal patients. It is now the treatment of choice for borderline personality disorder, a serious condition marked by extreme emotional reactivity, relationship instability, and self-injurious behaviors. Treatment of BPD helps patients tolerate the flux of emotions without acting on them, often with a specific focus on tolerating negative emotions. DBT addresses the core problems of BPD—fear of abandonment, low self-esteem, and impulsivity.

What is the goal of treatment in borderline personality disorder?

The goal of treatment for borderline personality disorder (BPD) is to relieve the extreme emotional distress that patients experience—to curb their emotional reactivity, to minimize their inclination to self-harm, and to reduce their impulsivity. Toward these ends, patients are not only taught an array of new coping skills and techniques for emotional regulation, they are given opportunities to practice them. Another major goal of treatment is interpersonal effectiveness; patients learn and problem-solve ways to effectively communicate in relationships, especially how to ask for what they need as a way to minimize hurt feelings.
