I am passionate about people and relationships. I offer commitment, transparency and experience to your therapy experience to support you to reach a place where you feel more content and in control of your life. My independent practice began in 1995, after having worked in other caring roles before I trained as a therapist. I have had many years of my own therapy and integrating my own developmental experience and therefore appreciate how difficult it can be to pick up the phone to embark on your own therapeutic trail. I therefore seek to make this as easy and as enjoyable as possible by offering you warmth, respect and love.

I am a counsellor, psychotherapist and specialist in addictions of 29 years experience as a front-line practitioner working within the public sector. I can assist with a broad-spectrum of issues. I provide one to one counselling, couple and family therapy. I am experienced in working with adults of all ages and from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, sexual orientation, and physical and mental ability. It is my belief evidenced from my work with a great many unique and wonderful persons that all of us have the innate ability to heal ourselves. I see my role as merely an assistant in this self-healing process.

Many clients come to therapy with labels like "Depression", "Anxiety", "PTSD". But on their own these labels tells me very little about your issues, needs, or goals. You might be someone that needs a safe, non-judgmental environment to really be free to express yourself in a way you can't elsewhere. Maybe you don't even know how to begin exploring your emotions. It is all too common for us to get stuck in our emotions left over from something in the past, or use more "acceptable" ones to cover the most helpful ones. If you are struggling to find meaning in life you may be feeling disconnected from yourself and/or those around you. This loss of contact with yourself, your needs, values and beliefs may decrease your trust in your ability to form and build meaningful relationships and achieve personal goals.

Sometimes the confusion, intensity and pain of bereavement and loss can be deeply overwhelming. You might be struggling to come to terms with a recent bereavement or realise that you still need to process difficult emotions, like anger, guilt or anxiety, which are stemming from a loss that happened years ago. For others, your loss might be due to a relationship break up, linked to the grief which can result after losing an aspect of your health or triggered by an event. Whatever the cause, we all need to feel understood and accepted to help us make sense of what has happened so that we can rebuild our lives and feel better.
