Addiction therapy is a process in which we will co-create a plan that will work for you based on your unique life circumstances, experiences, habits and natural traits. We will also base this on knowledge of how addiction works neurologically in the brain, and draw on evidence-based psychological methods. We can address any addictive or compulsive behaviour including: Alcohol, Drugs, Eating, Sex, Porn, Gambling, Shopping, Exercise, Gaming, Internet, Prescriptions, Social-media, Nicotine, Work, Rage, Plastic-surgery, Self-harm, Tattoos, Risky-activities, Vomiting, Hoarding, Bingeing...
My special interest is working with people with both ADHD and addiction as this combination can create particularly difficult challenges for them. Unrecognised ADHD in childhood can result in ruptured family relationships and damaged self-worth, and subsequently, unhelpful strategies to deal with this. I also offer NICE approved Adult ADHD Assessments.
Using approaches that are both active and soothing, we can work together to address your unwanted behaviour and the underlying anxiety, depression or low self-esteem that is driving it. I will also work with you to resolve earlier trauma or disruptions to key relationships that may be truly underlying your unwanted behaviours.
