I am a Cognitive Behaviour Therapist(CBT) providing evidence base psychotherapy for people over the age of 16 struggling with various presenting issues: Bereavement, Depression, Phobias Social/Health anxiety, Relationship troubles, Abuse, OCD, PTSD.
A warm welcome to you. Challenges that you might be facing right now, may seem small on the outside but can actually be very big on the inside which may be stopping you from enjoying and living life to the full. You can't change the past but you can change the influence that the past is having on you. I aim to offer you a safe, private and peaceful space to talk about the difficulties you are facing, to reflect on past experiences that may have left you anxious or depressed, and to work alongside you in making the changes that you feel you need. I am an member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP)

Are you tired of pretending everything’s fine or fed up of not feeling heard? Maybe you’ve been blindsided by life events, feel overwhelmed and need to make changes but don’t know where to start? I support people coping with change and loss, such as relationship difficulties, shifts in sexual identity, new careers, retirement, parenthood, illness or bereavement. Life changes like these can bring up doubts and fears that shake your sense of self. You may also find that traumatic or distressing events from the past push their way up and refuse to be ignored. I can help you face things that seem too daunting to tackle alone.

I have special interest in complex trauma, personality disorders and bereavement and working with families and couples.
Gestalt Therapy looks at the whole person and is holistic in its approach This means that what ever is happening in the person's life they can bring it to counselling and talk things through and work towards creative sustainable solutions and coping strategies. The family systems approach says that the family is more than the sum of its parts. When something affects one member of the group, it can have a resounding impact on every other member of the family. For that same reason, the strength and stability of the family unit can provide balance and support when one family member is experiencing problems.

I have completed many training courses on bereavement and loss and consider this to be an area of expertise.
Having supported children, young people and families for around 20 years, I have worked with clients with a range of issues including: bereavement, low self esteem, anxiety, depression, family, divorce, addiction, obesity, confidence etc. I enjoy working in partnership with clients to set goals for therapy or to provide a safe space to talk things through, whichever they would prefer. Client feedback has included that I am an honest and genuine person. I really do care about my clients and enjoy providing for them a safe and welcome space to explore their issues. I work in a person centred way.

I have a particular interest in bereavement, loss, trauma and low self esteem.
Life can throw up many challenges which can cause us to feel unsettled, upset and confused. Having someone to talk with can help to untangle and make sense of the emotions that are associated with the circumstances you are facing. I place value in the therapeutic relationship and offer a safe, confidential space for you to explore whatever you are grappling with. I commit to being fully present and believe that counselling can enable you to gain greater self understanding. I love seeing clients go from struggling to thriving and accompanying them on that journey is a real privilege. I do both short and long term work.

I have experience of working with anxiety, bereavement, trauma, PTSD, depression and gender dysphoria.
Finding a therapist who you feel really "gets you" is not always easy and can take time. From personal experience I know how invaluable therapy can be when you share your vulnerabilities and receive compassion without judgement in return. Whatever is bringing you to counselling at this time in your life, I would offer you an open and honest space to share your feelings without fear of rejection. I would be privileged to help in your search for the answers that you are looking for to move forward from where you are now, and in doing so help you feel more at peace within yourself.

I have a focus on bereavement counselling as I believe that all pain can be attributed to loss and grief over a life that was or a life that could have been.
The loss of people or things can bring anxiety and depression as we struggle to take care of our own needs and wellbeing. By focusing on the root of the matter, we can make some lasting and meaningful changes. The way we talk to others and ourselves is a window to what’s going on inside. My counselling space, ‘A Space For’, is a place for you to explore what that is. We can be too easily swept up in the day-to-day and in our long ingrained habits and beliefs that it takes dedicated time and focus to unravel what really is causing us pain, the grudges and guilt.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my page. i am an experienced counsellor who works with a wide range of presenting issues. The work we do together can be looking at events in your past that have impacted upon you and stay with you now, or the present and what is happening in your life that is making life difficult. Coping and adjusting to loss in any situation can be really tough, supporting you and offering you strategies can make the experience feel manageable Sometimes how we think does not often support or help us, therapy can explore and challenge this so we become more supportive of ourselves and rewrite the script.

My experience has been working with bereavement, abusive relationships, stress, trauma, depression, anxiety and low self-esteem.
Counselling is a connection between you and me. If you are feeling low, down, mixed up, confused, emotional and feel ready to explore what you are experiencing within a confidential setting, where you can be listened to compassionately to feel understood. The therapeutic relationship is built on trust and safety, which offers you an acceptance of yourself and an awareness of your own inner self. The process of change develops through your own inner connection with your self, shifting your mindset and reactions into choices of responding. Moving forward in your own empowerment and self-worth. Being confident in who you are.

Common thoughts that lead people to come to counselling include the following: "I can't get rid of my anger." , "Will this grief never end?" , "Why can't I form meaningful relationships?", "I can't bear living with this anxiety", "I can't see any point in anything.", "Why am I drinking so much?", "I feel so stressed at work all the time." and "I often feel that life is not worth living." When such thoughts and feelings seriously affect our ability to enjoy life then it may be time to think about getting help.

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
