Your grief is unique.
Being bereaved in the pandemic has presented additional challenges and impacted on your grieving. COVID may have meant you were unable to say goodbye to your loved one. You may be recovering from a life changing illness including long COVID , facing uncertainty, struggling with loss of health, relationships and work. You may be experiencing overwhelming waves of grief . You may be frightened, frustrated that others don't understand what you are going through. You may feel stuck, going over and over what happened, struggling to accept. Feeling angry, anxious, lonely, depressed, your plans shattered and fearing the the future.

My previous counselling experience is with a community counselling charity and a bereavement charity.
I am a Gestalt counsellor working from a comfortable counselling room in the centre of Eastbourne, and I can help you discover the change you want in your life so that you can live it in a more fulfilling way. I offer individual counselling, whether short-term or more open-ended. As a Gestalt counsellor, I believe we are each unique in the way we experience and see the world. The counselling relationship can create a safe space that values and respects your individuality so that you can risk exploring distressing patterns and then live more consciously and with more choice in your response to other people, events and challenges.

My specialisms are working with loss, grief & transitions as a Bereavement Therapist.
My aim is for us to establish an open, trusting & often relaxed relationship, which helps you to be vulnerable, explorative and creative with yourself. I know from experience that opening up to a new person in this way can feel daunting. However, in all of our lives there are times of discomfort, darkness & beauty, & my hope is that our sessions are a place for you to embrace all of this; to laugh, cry, vent, or gain a moment of reflection or calm. Often we can lose sight of how much internal conversations, stories & feelings are holding us back. I offer a safe and calming space to air all this and find a new path to move forward.

I work with those who have experienced loss of any kind - a bereavement, a job, a relationship, a pet, your health, or the feeling that you have just lost your way and don’t know where you are heading.
These past two years have been very tough. Life continues to be uncertain, and this has had an impact on all of us. For some much has changed, and for others it has been devastating. Have you lost someone close to you, or perhaps your job or your home? Has a sudden or unwanted change left you not knowing where you are going? Are you just hoping for life to get back to normal? On the other hand, for some of you this pandemic may have been the prompt you have needed to look at things that have been troubling you for some time. Either way, do you feel you need to have someone you can talk to about how you are really feeling?

I am a Person Centred counsellor based in, but not limited to, Seaford. I currently have a room in Eastbourne to use, as well as offering home visits within a reasonable distance (roughly 20miles). I offer a safe place, free of judgement, where we can privately explore whatever you may wish to bring to the sessions while also offering honesty and transparency to help build our relationship. I have experience with bereavement but I am able to work with you as an individual, not just an individual problem. A personal favourite analogy of mine is “I will attempt to put your shoes on and walk with you but I won’t do up the laces”.

I have years of experience and have worked with people with difficulties such as anxiety, depression, addiction, relationship issues and bereavement.
People come into counselling for many different reasons, these might include stress at work or difficulties in relationships. Working with a counsellor who's focus is on you and helping you to work towards changing your life in a way that is positive for you, can offer you something that it is not possible to gain from other relationships what you may have.

At times, we can find it difficult to connect with those closest to us or even with ourselves. Traumatic events, change, loss and ongoing stress can lead us to feel overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, irritated, confused or low and lacking in motivation. If this resonates with you, I provide a confidential space in which you can express, explore and reflect on your experience without blame or judgement. I work with calm compassion and gentle curiosity. By supporting you to enhance self awareness and develop self acceptance, you can move towards more satisfying, life-affirming, choices and connections.

If you’ve found your way here wondering how to make sense of life after loss, I can support you. This may be the loss of a loved one, the loss of your health, or the loss of who you knew yourself to be. None of us go through life without experiencing some form of loss. Grieving can be a painful and lonely experience even when those close to you are experiencing the loss at the same time. The uniqueness of your experience can make it complicated to talk with those who already know you about how this feels and what your story really is.

It is only human to suffer and feel pain. Too often we bear the burden of difficult past experiences, uncertainty about the future or disconnection from the here and now. These experiences can leave us feeling isolated and alienated. But we do not need to be alone in our distress. At theses time we need a helping hand to make sense of and overcome a painful past or a troubling present and look toward a more hopeful and meaningful future. At my comfortable clinic in Eastbourne I offer a warm, empathic and confidential service for adults experiencing a broad range of difficulties using a breadth of proven, evidence-based approaches.

Here are some of the issues I have helped clients explore: depression, anxiety, stress, bereavement, loss, anger, family relationships, relationships with partners, self-harm, lack of self esteem, suicidal thoughts, health-related issues, self-development, creativity, mindfulness, spirituality, search for meaning.
If you decide to work with me it will be rather like setting out on a journey together. On that journey I’ll be your fellow traveller, companion and guide. Whether or not your reason for coming to see me is an external situation that’s impacting your life, a key part of our time together will be to explore your inner world. As we explore that world together you may develop greater insight into patterns of thought and behaviour that served you once but now limit you; you may find alternative ways of approaching difficulties; you may discover a way of being in the world that is more in tune with who you truly are.

Bereavement Counsellors
Grief and Bereavement is the acute pain that accompanies loss. Because it is a reflection of what we love, it can feel all-encompassing. Grief is not limited to the loss of people, but when it follows the loss of a loved one, it may be compounded by feelings of guilt and confusion, especially if the relationship was a difficult one.

If you're looking for an Eastbourne bereavement counsellor, these professionals provide grief therapy and counselling in Eastbourne.
