I’m Ben, a psychotherapist and counsellor working online, on the phone and in-person from central Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. I am a person-centred (or client-centred) therapist which means that our sessions are about you, your life and your experiences. You might have a very clear idea of why you would like therapy, or you might have a more general feeling that therapy might be useful for you. All that matters is that it's your choice. Wherever things start, my experience is therapy can be a route to understanding, healing and growth; it can bring a kind of peace with where you are, where you've been and where you want to go.
The relationship between us is where the good stuff happens. Together we make a space where you feel comfortable to bring all of who you are. Happiness, worry, sadness, frustration, anger, laughter and anxiety (to name a few) are all welcome in our sessions. Life's complicated, we're complicated - psychotherapy makes room for all of that complexity.
Accessing counselling can feel like a big and scary step, so I offer a free and informal 20-30 minute chat about therapy, about you, and about how I work. This is a way for you to hear more about my approach and see if therapy with me feels right. If it does feel right, we'll arrange therapy at a time, place and pace that's best for you.
