A very warm welcome to my profile. My name is Basma, I’m a Counselling Psychologist with 5+ years experience in working with adults in a number of settings including third sector and the NHS. I have a special interest in working with individuals who have experienced relational and childhood trauma. I'm also experienced in working with a variety of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, low self-esteem, as well as difficulties surrounding one's identity. I'm an integrative practitioner which means that I use a number of evidence-based therapeutic models to tailor therapy in a way that is suited to your needs.
I understand that therapy can be daunting. Having to reveal yourself to another may go against what most of us do to protect ourselves from being judged, hurt, and rejected. This is why my approach is grounded in the therapeutic relationship, to provide an environment that feels safe, containing, and supportive; one where you feel seen, heard, and validated.
I'm passionate about empowering people to find ways to lead meaningful lives and make decisions that are in line with their identity, values and goals. Together, we can understand what maintains your struggles, how to overcome them, and discover a way forward that feels more fulfilling.
