You might be struggling with something difficult in the here and now, such as the loss of a loved one, or the breakdown of a relationship. Or perhaps you’re aware of vague, underlying feelings of sadness, anxiety or anger. Maybe you feel trapped in a cycle of repeated disappointments with partners, friends and careers and don’t know why. Whether you know what the problem is, or even if you don’t, therapy can help. It’s an opportunity to explore yourself; to examine feelings, thoughts and motivations and gain understanding - the first step towards navigating a different, happier course.

People come to therapy for many reasons - sometimes because they're living with a mental health condition, sometimes because life feels overwhelming, and sometimes because something deeper is stirring that is hard to name. You're welcome here wherever you're starting from. Alongside supporting people through emotional distress, I'm especially drawn to the deeper layers of human experience: questions of identity, meaning, transition, and how to live a life that feels like your own. I offer a warm, steady presence where you can slow down, listen inwards and find language for what has felt confusing or unspoken.

You may struggle with people-pleasing or with not feeling good enough, no matter how much you do for others. Saying “no” can bring guilt, decisions can feel paralysing and someone’s disappointment can leave you unsettled for days. Over time, this can leave you anxious, indecisive and disconnected from what you want.
These patterns often began as intelligent ways of keeping relationships safe. But what once protected you may now cost you confidence, clarity and vitality. You may feel responsible for others’ emotions, doubtful of your worth or frustrated that you can’t stop over-adapting.

I approach working with clients as meeting the individual within their current situation. I hold a non-judgemental position and offer unconditional acceptance. I work with a diverse population but I am unable to offer access to my practice room for wheelchairs

Welcome. If you’re reading this, you may well be experiencing difficulties with your mental health, either because of a specific event, or for what may seem like no obvious reason. There are a bewildering number of options to choose from, so how can I help you? I work psychodynamically, which means not just exploring what’s happening in the present, but also how your individual ways of coping and feeling may be linked unconsciously to your past. I have experience working with a variety of emotional issues and events, including anxiety, bereavement, stress, loneliness and unresolved childhood problems.

Many of the people I work with feel anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or exhausted from putting everyone else first. They may struggle with low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, trauma, loss, burnout, or simply feel that life has become harder than it should be. Together, we create a safe, accepting space to explore what has brought them here. As we begin to understand the patterns behind their thoughts, feelings, and relationships, they often develop greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, and confidence to make choices that feel right for them.

Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, anxious, low, or unsure why they react the way they do. You may want space to breathe, feel understood, and explore your experiences safely. You might be seeking clarity, steadiness, or new ways of coping. You may want to understand yourself better, break old patterns, or feel more grounded and connected. Therapy offers support so you don’t have to navigate any of this alone.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy enables you to explore and make sense of your current difficulties and, if relevant, considers how these issues may be rooted in past experiences and childhood relationships. Psychodynamic psychotherapy also enables you to attend to and acknowledge different aspects of yourself – some of which may be less conscious than others; to become more curious about your thoughts, feelings, motivations and memories and to get to know yourself better. This enhanced understanding can help you to recognise and rework patterns of behaviour which may no longer be helpful to you and to become more fully yourself.
