I provide therapy to individuals and I have experience of working in areas such as stress and anxiety, relationship issues with self and others, sexual identity and sexuality, masculine embodiment issues, depression, sadness, loss and grief, life crises, finding meaning in the problems experienced, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, compulsive behaviours.
My approach is Integrative Transpersonal which means I draw on various models including Jungian, Humanistic, Existential, Developmental, body, Gestalt, archetypal psychologies as well as psychodynamic theory and neuroscience. The transpersonal includes working with myth and story, poems, the imagination, drawings, dreams and imagery and spiritual dimensions. My way of working is relational. This means the relationship between clients and me is key for the work - what emerges between us is fundamental for the work itself. The soulful approach is a way to respect clients’ sufferings and I aim to support clients to work through them.

I help ADHD adults, teens, and children (11+) to discover relief from overwhelm, ease from anxiety, and courage to be true to themselves, for greater fulfilment in life and relationships. Perhaps you have a sense you struggle more than others, which can leave you feeling ashamed and unsure of yourself. With an unruly mind and relentless anxiety, you can feel held back from what’s important to you in life and relationships. Some part of you knows there's a happier more fulfilled 'you' desperate to get out. I offer a nurturing and empowering space, where we'll discover who you are with more clarity, ease, and trust in yourself.

I also have experience dealing with depression and anxiety.
I was born and raised in multicultural societies all my life. Living in several different countries on 3 different continents (United Arab Emirates, Canada, Pakistan, Wales and England) has given me unique knowledge about culturally adapting therapy. It has also taught me to understand and work with many different kinds of people. I believe in building a strong therapeutic relationship with the client to create a safe and comfortable space to address and potentially alleviate psychological trauma. I have extensive experience adapting contemporary therapy and counselling and tailoring it to unique cultural nuances.

Are you going through a bereavement? Are you struggling with anxiety? Have you been suffering with low mood? Do you feel lost, alone or confused? Being human can be tough and we can all experience difficulties with our mental health. This does not mean you are broken or need to be ‘fixed’, but instead you are having a normal human response to an abnormally painful, difficult or scary experience - it can help to talk.

Hello i'm Lizzy an integrative therapist. You may have experienced anxiety, depression a trauma (historical or recent) a bereavement or relationship breakdown. You could be coming to terms with addiction or just need to make sense of life. Embarking on a therapeutic journey provides a space to think, to speak, to feel and to be heard. Therapy provides you with autonomy in your space to hear your words, experience your feelings and begin your own independent journey to a more fulfilled and resilient existence. This will happen when you and I explore your goals and and expectations at a pace that works for you.

I am a BACP integrative psychodynamic counsellor who has practised in various sectors, including profit and charity organisations, higher education and private practice. I am committed to creating a safe, compassionate environment in which, through collaborative exploration and reflection of your current circumstances or past experiences, you can raise your awareness of less conscious feelings, patterns of thinking and behaviour. I believe it's when we have access to this kind of understanding that profound changes and self-growth can take place. I also offer clinical supervision and teach counselling in addition to my practice.

This encourages us to explore how our most primary relationships have influenced the way we think, behave and relate to others in everyday life; how we respond to difficult situations; why we experience immense stress and anxiety.
A warm hello and thank you for visiting my profile. I am Ellie, a qualified art therapist. This means that other than talking, we can also look at creative ways for you (that do not require any expenses) to express feelings and thoughts, as sometimes talking about difficult material continuously can be overwhelming. Allowing oneself to be vulnerable is difficult and I truly commend you for making a first step in seeking support. We will work together to create a therapeutic alliance and explore your troubles, as we look at ways to manage them. Much of my work is trauma-informed, working with relational trauma of different types.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
