All manner of emotions leave an impression deep inside. Somehow we manage them seemingly and move on. But then something triggers us into a place whereby we feel disabled in managing them and ourselves leading us back to these old feelings. I have experienced such feelings and sought professional help in the past and have ongoing work with my Clinical Advisor. It has been 20 plus years since I qualified as a Person Centred counsellor and then as a nurse. Having been involved with Hospice Bereavement support in the past I have, and currently, undertake continued study in ways of helping people through life.
Having worked most recently with bereaved clients I am interested in the way that bereavements can affect the individual throughout their life, particularly if the stages of grief are not addressed properly. Subsequent losses of every kind can increase unmanaged grief and emotions can impact negatively on relationships and normal functioning.
By truly listening and being with the person as they tell their story of what brought them to seek therapy I hope to build the trust for us to be able to work together through the issues to find a path that will reveal a more beneficial way of living.
