I deal with all issues: depression, anxiety, relaxation, panic disorders, phobias, school refusal, anger, PTSD, OCD, public speaking, children, well-being, grief counselling, relationship counselling and adoloscents.
Human givens practitioners offer practical, solution-focused help that deals with mental and emotional distress in the here and now. They won’t waste time just endlessly listening to you or attempting to dredge up real or imagined miserable memories from the past. Nor do they deal in time-wasting so-called voyages of ‘self-discovery’… Their psychotherapy training ensures that they have a sound body of evidence-based knowledge and the proven skills to help both adults and children as quickly as possible with a wide variety of emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Hello my name is Linda, I am an experienced psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer. I am currently accepting short and long term client work and supervision clients, to work online.   I work individually, with couples or pairs, or in small groups.  I also supervise those that offer supervision to others.  I believe relationship is key to successful therapy and supervision because it allows trust, respect and mutuality to build which results in having an open, safe space in which to work. Sometimes having the opportunity to talk with someone impartial and independent is essential.

“You do not need magic to transform your life. You carry the power you need inside yourself already.” My name is Karen. I am a wife, mother, and daughter. I have experienced the highs and lows of life; giving me a profound insight into how therapy can reinforce a positive mindset and change lives. I am deeply compassionate towards one’s experiences and provide a consensual understanding by placing the formation of a therapeutic relationship at the forefront of my counselling method. Through individuals being treated with respect, acceptance and understanding, an open and honest relationship can be built.

Post Lock down I am seeing more people whose relationship is under greater pressure due to both being at home, financial worries, anxiety about the changes that are happening in the world around them to name but a few. Others are seeking help due to the loss of a loved one, individuals are feeling isolated and having time to face fears that busy lives help supress. All of these things are things that therapy can help with.

Being unable to see a way forward and feeling trapped in your own life can lead to anxiety, stress and depression. I believe trust is the most important thing in therapy, and once established, with your consent, I will be there with you at every step of your journey out of darkness and into a brighter future. Personal therapy will allow you to take stock of your life and start questioning who you are and what you want in order to move towards a better place. Taking that journey through the therapeutic process, you will discover that although life happens out there, it is how we respond to what happens that ultimately defines us.

I believe listening empathetically to your specific individual experiences and thoughts, enables a deeper understanding of why you may be feeling depressed, anxious, lonely and lack direction or purpose in your life. If you have experienced the trauma of abuse or neglect, you may be feeling isolated from others and carry a sense of shame about who you are. I have fifteen years of experience creating individualised approaches centred around the individual needs of people who are experiencing psychological difficulties.

uncontrollable anger, shouting, panic, blaming, violence, anxiety, depression, addiction, suicidal thoughts.
Hello and welcome! My name is Alex and I offer in-person sessions in Reading (town centre), or online via zoom. I am a fully qualified, BACP-registered, counsellor with a proven track record of helping people work through all kinds of problems. I think that part of the problem we all share is that we grew up in a society that didn't really understand human emotions. Thus, we quickly learned that emotions are a problem and that the only proper way of dealing with them is to shut them off, brush them under the carpet and put on a brave face.

These approaches are particularly effective in working with painful emotions and processes such as guilt, shame, rumination, anger and an intolerance of uncertainty.
As a BABCP accredited CBT Therapist I have worked in various NHS and private settings: Anxiety, Depression, Panic, OCD, PTSD, Trauma, Perfectionism, Worry and Low Self Esteem are difficulties I regularly work with. Cultural sensitivity and diversity is important, including: Physical Health, LGBTQIA+, Ethnicity, Religion & other differences. I work with adults, young people and facilitate CBT groups (recently for social anxiety and also substance misuse). I'm open-minded, friendly, warm and approachable. I will help you learn useful strategies, tools and techniques; alongside providing space to process & understand yourself better

This has enabled me to work with both adults and young people and support them through a range of problems; depression, anger management, eating disorders, social anxiety etc.
Each of us experience difficulties at some point in our lives and having a confidential, safe place to discuss problems, allows us to share our burdens more readily. Asking for help is a brave step, therefore it is important to me that my clients feel heard and understood. Your problems are unique to you and this requires a flexible, individual approach. I am a fully qualified and experienced psychotherapist, trained in Person-Centred Therapy, I offer a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space for clients, where they can work through their problems, at their pace.

Are you experiencing difficult thoughts and feelings such as anxiety, depression, anger and/or sadness? Do you perhaps find it hard to talk about what is going on for you with people around you including your loved ones? You may be noticing that the way you are coping is not helping you to feel better in the long term. I strongly believe that everyone deserves a chance to learn how to manage difficult things that are going on for them, and to move forward to a place where they can feel positive and their mind is at ease. I can work with you collaboratively, and help you to achieve your goals.

Anger Management Counsellors

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
