Hi, my name is Andrew. I'm a Psychodynamic Counsellor (since 2018).
Psychodynamic counselling is a relationship where the things you can’t (yet!) think or say—your anxieties, defences, long-standing patterns of loving and hating—can begin to show themselves in the here-and-now, especially in how you experience your therapist. By noticing and putting words to these unconscious “inner object” relationships as they come alive between you and your therapist, you slowly integrate previously split-off parts of yourself, soften persecutory fear and guilt, and build a more stable capacity for trust, ambivalence, and care.
My aim is to help you understand any pain or stress you are feeling without judgment and help to find ways through it to a better, healthier place. I am guided by the belief that you are the expert in your own life, and through counselling can explore and grow in knowledge and understanding of your own experiences and situation.
Given all of us have our particular emotional issues and histories, appreciating, understanding, and owning our life story is central to being able to take hold of right now and the future which unfolds from it. Helping you to that point is what I aim to do for you.
