I am a clinical psychologist and a psychoanalytic psychotherapist. I have over 20 years of experience working with adults in the NHS.
I have also extensive experience supervising trainee clinical psychologists and trainee psychotherapists.
My aim is to provide a safe, reflective space in which to bring what is troubling you and what might be preventing you from moving on with your life, or from developing nurturing relationships.
Psychotherapy can feel daunting, but can help you to gain a better understanding of yourself, your emotions and to work through your difficulties.
I am trained to listen carefully in order to understand what is making your life difficult in the context of your past and present experiences.
Our experiences, both early ones and present ones, shape the person we become and our particular difficulties. Psychoanalytic psychotherapists make links between the ‘there and then’ and the ‘here and now’.
To begin with, I offer you an initial consultation in which to start gaining a picture of you and your difficulties. I usually suggest for us to meet up to three times before agreeing on a therapeutic contract. This also offers you the opportunity to experience the way I work and whether you find it suits you. If not, I can sign post you to other approaches.
