My name is Amy (she/her) and I am a qualified Person-Centred psychotherapist. The Person-Centred Approach is a relational way of working based on the belief that we each have the inner wisdom to find our way forward. This capacity for self-direction can get blocked, buried or diverted, however, as we adapt to the different environments and cultural contexts we find ourselves in. A genuine and accepting therapy relationship can help us reconnect with our inner power by giving space to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours.
Because what matters is how you sense and perceive your experiences, it is important that you are in control of the process. My intention is to sensitively listen and explore at the direction, pace and depth you wish to go. This process can reveal new insights and develop your self-awareness and self-acceptance to help you live a more meaningful life.
I usually suggest an introductory session so we can explore what's brought you to therapy and what you might like to get out of it. I hope that an exploratory meeting like this will give you a feel for how it is to talk to me and if you’d like to work together. I’m also happy to answer any questions you might have before booking a first session.
