There are many reasons to come to therapy whether struggling with a particular event, past trauma or ongoing concern. Our work together may involve talking about thoughts and feelings, but also slowing down and paying attention to sensations in the body. This can allow you to be with your experience without having to necessarily retell your life story in detail. Whatever you are feeling will be held in a safe and non-judgmental space, allowing you the freedom to explore what is happening in your life. If this sounds like an interesting approach, then contact me for a free 30-minute meeting.
My approach includes mindfulness, paying attention to sensations in the body and working with the imagination. It isn't about applying a particular formula, but about deeply listening to you and working with whatever you bring. It is a combination of contemporary psychotherapy and Buddhist psychology (but you don't need to be a Buddhist to attend!).
During the initial meeting you can discuss your reasons for wanting therapy and ask any questions. There is no obligation at this stage, and I would encourage you to meet with other therapists to ensure we are the right fit. This is because studies show that the most effective part of psychotherapy is the therapeutic relationship.

Everyone is unique and comes to therapy with their own life story, culture and beliefs. I have particular interest in working with sexuality, and 'difference' in our society. If we decide to work together then I ask for an initial commitment of 6 weeks with regular reviews following this.

Mindfulness Based Core Process Psychotherapy was established in 1982, as the UK's original mindfulness-based psychotherapy. Part of the intention was to bring the awareness and compassion of meditation practice into the therapeutic relationship. It is informed by contemporary theories on trauma, attachment and body-based practices.
