My name is Alison, I am a psychotherapist with many years experience working in mental health. My initial career was working in homeless and residential centres for adults with complex mental health needs, changing field in 2019 and receiving a masters degree and working since as a psychotherapist, both in private practice and online. I have worked in Ireland with clients with a range of personal struggles, such as anxiety, depression and mood disorders, along with neurodiverse clients who I specialise in now.
My therapy style is empathic, person-centred and collaborative. I believe in the therapeutic relationship being transparent and authentic, built on trust and integrity in order to form a strong therapeutic alliance with my client. My approach is integrative and holistic using cognitive-behavioural skills.
Being neurodivergent myself, and getting a diagnosis in my 30's, I understand the difficulties that many neurodiverse people face in society today. I understand how difficult and confusing life can be, especially those of us who may learn differently and how these difficulties can manifest for us.
