I am an experienced counsellor who works within a hospital setting with a variety of mentally ill persons. In my private practice, I have extensive experience working with people experiencing traumatic life experiences, depression, anxiety, and negative thinking.
I have a particular interest in enabling clients to develop a positive and rewarding life, feeling comfortable about themselves and their functioning. I am aware that things happen in people's lives that cannot be changed, and I emphasise adjustment and resilience in terms of enabling clients to move on from their difficulties.
I operate mainly using a person-centred, cognitive model of treatment. Our first session would involve taking a full history of your difficulties. I would then develop a treatment plan which you could agree/disagree with, or modify depending on your personal views. I will work collaboratively with you on your journey to deal with your problems.
If you are interested in possibly having therapy, firstly, we would have a free 15-minute telephone/video consultation, so we can get to know each other, as it is important that we develop a rapport, and you feel comfortable with me.
A consultation would not commit you to undertaking therapy, as it is important that you feel comfortable before committing.
