Chronic pain changes more than the body. It changes how you think about your future, your work, and who you are. I work with people carrying that weight, alongside those facing trauma, and those grappling with loss, bereavement, or the fear of death itself. These experiences share something: they ask you to keep living fully in the presence of something you cannot fix or undo. That is the work I know well.
I work with chronic pain, trauma, and the distress that comes with loss and mortality, drawing on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EMDR, and existential approaches. The aim isn't to erase what's happened or fix what can't be fixed. It's to help you build a life that’s sturdy enough to take the weight of these challenges so that you can live well.
Many people wait years before starting therapy for chronic pain, grief, or trauma, often because they assume nothing can really change until the underlying problem is solved. It rarely works that way. Therapy can start well before that, and often needs to. If this sounds like where you are, I'd welcome the chance to talk about what might help.

Chronic pain, trauma, and the distress that comes with loss or mortality rarely resolve on a fixed timeline. So we won't work to one. Early sessions focus on understanding what you're carrying and what's actually hindering you, then we build a plan from there, drawing on ACT, EMDR, and existential approaches as the work calls for them.

Which approach I use depends on what's in front of me. ACT tends to lead when the work is about living alongside pain or uncertainty that won't fully resolve. EMDR comes in when a specific traumatic memory is still driving distress. Existential work surfaces naturally around loss, mortality, and meaning. Most people need some mix of the three.
