Want to explore what's brought you to therapy in a safe, compassionate, non-judgemental setting? I'm an Integrative psychotherapist - the essence of my practice is to work with you transparently and with warmth, empathy, humour and gentle challenge. Perhaps you’re struggling - feeling alone and isolated. Maybe you’re overwhelmed, depressed, burnt out or anxious. It could be that what you’re experiencing isn’t any of these - maybe you don't feel yourself and you don’t know why. If you’re experiencing any of these feelings, sharing your burden through counselling can help.

At some point in our lives we all need helping hand. Struggling with emotional issues can impact on the way we move forward which can cause us to feel frustrated, frightened and apprehensive. Working together, we can explore both past and present experiences that may be impacting on your life now. With understanding and empathy we can discover and develop more benefical coping strategies which may also help reduce feelings of anxiety and depression and help you feel calmer about managing your situation.

I believe in demystifying mental health. I practice a type of talking therapy called psychodynamic therapy. I listen to and reflect on your thoughts, feelings and experiences and I sometimes focus on the dynamics of our relationship and your past relationships to enable us to explore root causes. This approach can make longer-lasting change for you possible.

Problems are personal, bereavement, depression, stress, relationship breakdowns and anxiety can all feel unbearable and isolating. The reasons for seeking counselling or psychotherapy are as unique and varied as we are. Sometimes we have an idea of what is annoying or upsetting us. Sometimes we struggle to understand issues that darken our days. We might enter a cycle of blame or self-loathing in which we get lost, finding it difficult to move forwards in our lives.

I qualified as a clinical psychologist in 2007 from University College London. I'm registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and am chartered as a clinical psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS). I am able to provide a number of reduced-fee online therapy sessions for people who would find it difficult to afford the typical costs of seeing a clinical psychologist privately and do not have private medical insurance. I have experience of working with a broad range of emotional difficulties including low mood, stress and the full range of anxiety disorders.

On our journey through life, we can become lost and caught up in negative thoughts and feelings. This can change our perception and take us out of balance. It may also affect our well-being by creating problems in our relationships which may lead to anxiety, depression or low self-esteem. Counselling can help us to understand patterns in our life that cause distress and helps to facilitate insights into the core of our thinking, our self belief, our behaviour and the imposed limitations to bring about change. I have experience in working with teenagers and adults with anxiety, depression, loss and bereavement and low self esteem.

My name's Stephanie, I'm a psychotherapist, clinical hypnotherapist and nutritionist. I use Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT), which is a form of CBT. I work with couples as well as individuals, and integrate various types of therapy alongside REBT. I work with an array of issues, with particular emphasis on working with anxiety and shame. I do a lot of work on improving self-esteem, though this often runs alongside another priority problem. I work with phobias, loss of direction, trauma and depression, as well as couples therapy. Some work involves promoting a healthy relationship with food to achieve weight control.

Hello and Welcome, Life has indeed become complex. Many of us are now struggling with our mental health in ways that are no longer manageable. Our past and present hurts, our unprocessed feelings have risen to the surface. We find ourselves thinking, feeling and acting in ways that do not reflect who we want to be. Some of us have Grief, Trauma or Addiction that we just can’t seem to work through. As a Senior Accredited Psychotherapist with a Master Degree and EMDR Accredited, I've seen thousands come through my door, with various presenting issues and undergo genuine transformation, healing and leave with hope for the future.

People seek therapy when they are dissatisfied or unhappy and feel that it is possible to make changes but this is very difficult alone. Psychotherapy is a particular type of conversation exploring thoughts, feelings and relationships. Psychotherapy offers the opportunity to think about what is troubling in a safe setting to understand and improve relationships, both with ourselves and others. My thinking and approach places relationships at the heart of experience. When patterns in relationships can be understood we can feel liberated to change.

How can I find a therapist in AL5?
Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
