Taking the first step to talk to someone can feel difficult. Perhaps you're clear about how you feel or maybe you're confused and it's difficult to put your feelings into words. You may have felt this way for a while and you're not sure why. Maybe you're in a difficult relationship or you feel that your relationships don't last. Many of us struggle to make a life transition or cope with a change or loss in our lives. Perhaps you feel your life is lacking meaning. I can help you make sense of these experiences by understanding their meaning for you and help you gain a greater understanding of yourself in the process.
As a psychodynamic counsellor, I think a better appreciation of your early life experiences, can lead to a new perspective on your feelings now. I can help you think about the ways in which you can be more compassionate towards yourself. Seeking counselling at any point in life is a positive step in terms of self- care.
I have over twenty years' experience as a nurse, working with individuals and their families and I now have a particular interest in working with those in the caring professions. As part of my counselling training I have worked in a low cost counselling service and in private practice for a number of years with adults both short and long-term.
