Although all clients are welcome, I specialise in counselling adults and young people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autistic Spectrum Condition and Specific Learning Difficulties, e.g. dyslexia. I have been working with neurodiverse adults for over thirty years, first as a teacher, then as an assessor, and now also as a counsellor. Although obtaining a diagnosis can bring relief, people often have many painful memories of school days and work, of relationships, and of not understanding and being misunderstood. Life can seem complex and confusing and sometimes who we are and what we want can get lost along the way.

Life isn't a straight forward, easy process, it has its roller coaster of ups, downs and roundabouts, how do we maintain our focus on our everyday lives, we attempt to get on with it, but sometimes it can feel like an uphill struggle against the wind and rain. We become overloaded, overwhelmed, stressed and irritable and sometimes our friends, family and colleagues notice our behaviour before we do. When we do realise that we need support, help, courage, whatever you chose to call it then we are half way there, the rest is looking for someone to share our difficulties and pressures with.

I aim to offer a service which is as unique as you are! We all experience life in different ways and I do not believe that there is a one fits all solution that works for everyone. My belief is that we are the only experts on ourselves and that we do have all the resources we need to be happy and fulfilled in our lives, for some of us we just don’t know it yet or maybe we have just lost the confidence to believe in ourselves. I welcome you to explore and challenge your beliefs and values to help you find the best way in life for you, the one that fits and allows you to work towards that wonderful goal of being you again

Thanks for stopping by. I am an integrative counsellor, accredited by the the BACP. Specializing in trauma, anxiety (including OCD + PTSD), depression and bereavement. I am approachable, enthusiastic and passionate about what I do, and possess the essential attributes needed when counselling. I form bonds with both individual and couples easily and I help people help themselves move forward in their lives on a regular basis. I do not stick to one specific counselling method, as in my experience therapy needs to be two way, it is best if somehow we can meet in the middle, and this is something we will negotiate on our journey.

"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." This is a quote by Anaïs Nin, one in which I firmly believe. It is always helpful to talk to someone, especially when that someone is trained to listen and help in a specialised and interactive way. A counsellor is not there to judge you, nor are they there to tell you what to do. Instead, counselling provides a safe and respectful environment to express and explore your feelings and troubles. Together, we can create a path of acceptance and work together to heal and change.

Our counsellors are all trained to offer non-directive, confidential support. As you would expect from an organisation taking referrals from the NHS, they are all qualified to certificate level or above, Police checked, insured and members of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists. As we have several counsellors we are confident that we will have the right therapist for you. We offer a reduced rate first appointment so that you can meet your therapist and decide whether you can work with them. If not we will have other counsellors that you can be matched with.

As your Counsellor I will listen, support and work with you. Firstly, by finding out what you are struggling with in ‘your world’. I use a variety of theories, strategies and tools which I mix and match depending on what your worries and concerns are, how you process things and your personality. For the best results we need to work as a team. We need to be open and honest with each other in order for me to understand and know what's important to you. I can then adapt each session to your needs and difficulties in order for you to gain insight, movement and to help you put changes into your life, in order for you to feel happier.

Within my practice I provide a safe, non-judgemental, professional and confidential environment in which you can explore whatever you feel necessary. Through exploring these issues, we can both begin to understand what is happening and why. This process can assist in self-understanding which in-turn boosts self-confidence and compassion. With this knowledge you may then become empowered to make the necessary changes needed in your life to address whatever has been causing the discomfort.

Feeling low? Not sure why? Or maybe you know why but not sure what to do about it. Either way, I am here to help you work through this difficult time. It takes courage to reach out and ask for support so it is important to find a counsellor who you feel comfortable with. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space to help you reflect on your personal experiences, develop self-awareness and make the changes you are looking for, to obtain a more fulfilling life. Asking for support is not admitting you can't cope, it's about looking for ways to help you cope.

We all experience difficulties in our lives and sometimes it's useful to have someone independent to help navigate us back onto a smoother path. Whether that be through listening to our stories so we can develop more clarity and a new perspective on what's going on, helping us to reframe how we think about things or simply being there for us in a non-judgemental way so that we can talk about whatever we need to. I can offer that to you. I offer counselling face-to-face and on-line with those who are experiencing a wide range of mental health issues including stress, anxiety, depression, eating disorders and phobias.
