Marisa T. Cohen, Ph.D., CPLC, obtained a BS in Biology and Society from Cornell University and a PhD in Educational Psychology, with a concentration in Learning, Development, and Instruction from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. She is currently a relationship researcher and coach, and teaches psychology courses at the college level.
Her academic research focuses on peoples’ perceptions of first date success and consensual non-monogamy. She is the author of From First Kiss to Forever: A Scientific Approach to Love, a book that relates relationship science research to everyday experiences and real relationship issues confronted by couples. She is passionate about discovering and sharing important research from the field, and has given guest lectures at the 92nd Street Y, Brooklyn Brainery, Strand Bookstore, WeWork, New York Hall of Science, and many other locations.
In addition to her Psychology Today blog, Dr. Cohen is the author of Love Lessons, a Long Island Weekly newspaper column. She has been quoted in publications such as Bustle, Cosmopolitan, Huffington Post, Man Repeller, Men’s Health, and Women’s Health.
