Louis Hoffman Ph.D.
Louis Hoffman, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist in private practice and the Executive Director of the Rocky Mountain Humanistic Counseling and Psychological Association. He has also written and edited 25 books and more than 100 journal articles and book chapters. His books include the APA Handbook of Humanistic and Existential Psychology (2 volumes), Humanistic Approaches to Multiculturalism and Diversity, Becoming an Existential-Humanistic Therapist, Case Formulation in Existential Therapy, The Evidence-Based Foundations of Existential-Humanistic Therapy, Eros & Psyche: Existential Perspectives on Sexuality (Volumes 1 & 2), and Existential Psychology East-West (Volumes 1 & 2). In 2024, his training video on Existential-Humanistic Case Formulation was published with APA Videos. He is also the Editor of the journal The Humanistic Psychologist.
Hoffman has been recognized as a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and six of its divisions (1, 10, 32, 36, 48, 52) for his contributions to the field. He is also the 2020/2021 recipient of the Rollo May Award of the Society for Humanistic Psychology (APA Division 32).
He is a co-chair of the Fourth Annual World Congress of Existential Therapy to be held in Aurora/Denver, Colorado in June, 2026. He is a founder of the International Institute for Existential-Humanistic Psychology, which provides training and supervision on existential-humanistic psychology in China and Southeast Asia. He is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Denver and Saybrook University. Hoffman also provides clinical supervision through the University of Denver and the Center for Humanistic and Interpersonal Psychotherapy.
