About

Laura Visu-Petra, Ph.D., is the coordinator of the Research in Individual Differences and Legal Psychology (RIDDLE) Lab and of the Legal Psychology Master program at Babeș-Bolyai University’s Department of Psychology, Romania. Her initial studies focused on the typical and atypical development of cognitive control mechanisms across the lifespan, aiming to develop training programs and improve academic performance. Next, she became interested in how social and emotional factors affect cognition, with a focus on the development of deceptive behavior in relation to problematic behavior in children and the general community or populations confronted with adversity (e.g., inmates, refugees). An overarching interest is in how individual differences in “bright” or “dark” personality traits foster prosocial or antisocial behavior while relying on authenticity or self-deceptive processes.

Mind Riddles is dedicated to sharing insights and findings from the RiddleLab exploring trips. Our blog targets several key areas of research, such as:

  • Prosocial and antisocial behaviors and dark traits: Implications for lawful or criminal behavior
  • Development of deception across the lifespan and cultures
  • Self-deception and authenticity
  • Emotion-cognition interactions across the lifespan
  • Individual differences shaping performance in extreme sports

In each Mind Riddles blog post, we will focus on a question or riddle that has puzzled wide audiences and the research community, trying to find multiple answers and points of view from the existing literature and from experts in the field.
