I am open to all sorts of interpretations. That's actually the fun of working on the Frontier Areas of Science. I have a two-step approach: First, think freely (like you do) about possible interpretations. Second, for the time being take a position that you can defend empirically and rationally. That is the conservative stance. But if there are empirical grounds for assuming more daring hypotheses integrate them, test them.
