Sadie Leder Elder, Ph.D., is a two-time national award winning psychology professor at High Point University who studies the interpersonal dynamics of romantic phenomena, including attraction, love, and trust. Her current research investigating how relationship partners negotiate competing drives for closeness and self-protection has yielded papers that have been published in leading peer-reviewed journals as well as presentations at national and international conferences. At High Point University she draws from her research background to teach classes such as the Psychology of Close Relationships and Love and Hate in Cyberspace. Elder is also a staff writer for the website Science of Relationships, and the recipient of national awards for excellence in teaching from the Society for the Teaching of Psychology in 2010 and 2014. She received her Ph.D. in Social/Personality Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
