Morton H. Shaevitz, Ph.D., ABPP, is a Board Certified Clinical Psychologist, author, speaker, and consultant. For more than three decades, Shaevitz has been inspiring individuals and organizations to grow and change through his clinical practice, organizational consulting, training programs, writings, and presentations. His current interests include helping individuals explore new models of productive aging and assisting organizations develop effective transition programs for their valued older employees. He is an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at UCSD and chairs the Geriatric Section of the California Psychological Association.
After receiving his Ph.D. in Clinical and Organizational Psychology from UCLA, Dr. Shaevitz joined the University of Michigan as an Assistant Professor of Psychology. He subsequently became the Associate Director of all University Counseling. He then came to UCSD as the founding Dean and Director of Counseling and Psychological Services. Subsequently, Dr. Shaevitz joined the Division of Internal Medicine at Scripps Clinic, where he developed numerous behavioral health programs for weight management, stress management, sexual dysfunction, and post-cardiac rehabilitation.
His latest book, Refire! Don’t Retire: Make the Rest of Your Life the Best of Your Life, coauthored with Ken Blanchard, was published in February 2015. His other publications include four best-selling books, a number of audiotape series, and numerous journal articles. He has also made many presentations at professional conferences both nationally and internationally.
Dr. Shaevitz has four adult children and five grandchildren. He and his wife, Marjorie, live in La Jolla, California.
