Mark O'Connell

Mark O’Connell, L.C.S.W., is a New York City-based psychotherapist in private practice.  He is the author of Modern Brides & Modern Grooms: A Guide to Planning Straight, Gay, and Other 21st Century Weddings (Skyhorse, 2014)--NATIONAL INDIE EXCELLENCE BOOK AWARD FINALIST. Mark's popular writing has also appeared in The Huffington Post, Out Magazine, Out.com, Truthdig.com, and dot 429 Magazine. His clinical writing has been published in The Journal of the American Psychoanalytic Association and The Journal of Lesbian and Gay Mental Health.

Mr. O'Connell graduated with Honors from Hunter College School of Social Work, and apprenticed as a psychotherapist at Institute for Human Identity, where he now sits on the Board.  He has an MFA in acting from Trinity Rep Conservatory, and is co-founder of the NYC-based theater company Lynx Ensemble Theater; creating performances that promote empathy and expand concepts of identity.

He practices psychodynamic psychotherapy in Manhattan's Flatiron district, working with a wide variety of individual adults and couples, including actors, artists, and the LGBT communities. He has presented his work across the country. His website is www.markoconnelltherapist.com.
