Katherine Preston

Katherine Preston is the author of Out With It: How Stuttering Helped Me Find My Voice, a memoir chronicling her life as a stutterer. Having first become aware of her stutter at the age of 7, Katherine spent years battling against her speech, ashamed and desperate to be ‘normal’. At the age of 24, she set off on an adventure searching for answers. She spent a year traveling around America interviewing hundreds of stutterers, researchers and therapists. Weaving her personal journey with stories from the people she interviewed, Out With It explores the challenge of understanding ourselves and the beauty of embracing our imperfections. Today Katherine is an international public speaker, giving lectures on diversity, vulnerability and writing to corporations, universities and conferences.
