Gillian McCann, Ph.D., and Gitte Bechsgaard, Ph.D.

Gillian McCann, Ph.D., is an associate professor in the Religions and Cultures department at Nipissing University, North Bay, Canada and the coauthor of The Sacred in Exile: What It Really Means to Lose Our Religion. Her previous book, Vanguard of the New Age: The Toronto Theosophical Society 1891-1945, was published in 2012.
 
Gitte Bechsgaard, Ph.D., is the coauthor of The Sacred in Exile: What It Really Means to Lose Our Religion and the founding director of the Vidya Institute in Toronto, a center dedicated to the teaching of classical yoga and Eastern traditions. A psychotherapist in private practice, she is involved in yoga research in various hospital settings in Toronto, in conjunction with York University.
