Elaine Shpungin, Ph.D. is the Director of the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign) Psychological Services Center (PSC).
Dr. Shpungin practices, studies, teaches, and writes about restorative approaches in family and community, with particular focus on Dominic Barter’s Restorative Circles (RC) process.
Through the PSC Conflict Clinic and other regional collaborations, she has worked with schools, organizations, justice systems, and intentional communities to help strengthen and improve their restorative systems.
Her writing focuses on the practical application of restorative justice principles in everyday life, and on improving the outcomes of restorative practices. Besides her Psychology Today blog, you can find her essays, articles, and chapters in academic journals, scholarly books, web magazines, and popular books on psychology.
